Help

The questions we get most, sorted into five piles. Tap one to open it. If yours is missing, send it over through the contact page.

1. Just landed here

Is PepPick free?

Yes, for readers it is free, every pick, every time. You do not sign in to read. The only accounts on the site belong to invited writers and the administrators.

What is a topic page?

Writers add tags to their posts. Each tag gets a page at /picks/name/ collecting tagged picks from all PepPick writers, handy when you care about a subject more than a person.

2. Keeping up

How do I follow one writer?

Grab their RSS feed. It sits at /handle/feed.xml and is linked from their profile. Paste it into any feed reader.

And the whole site?

One feed covers everything: /feed.xml.

3. Talking back

How do I comment?

Head to the bottom of a post, add a name and what you want to say, and send. You do not need an account, and we will not ask for your email.

My comment vanished. Why?

It almost certainly has not vanished, it is in the queue. A moderator looks at each guest comment before it goes public. If a comment is still not approved 30 days on, the system removes it.

Can I take a comment back?

Yes. There is no reader account to do it from, so ask us: on the contact page, pick My data: see it or delete it, and name the post and the comment.

4. Getting a blog

Can I sign up?

Not by yourself. Blogs are handed out by invitation, and there is no open sign-up form. To put your hand up, use the contact page with the topic I’d like to write here and tell us what you would pick and why. Every note gets read; not every note gets an invite.

What do I get?
  1. A profile: portrait, short bio, optional link to your website
  2. Categories you name, plus a start-here introduction
  3. Posts with cover images, inline images, tags, and a table of contents when they run long
  4. Your own RSS feed

The Why PepPick page walks through each one.

Do I still own my posts?

Completely. Publishing lets the site host, show and pass on your posts, RSS included, and that is all. Ask any time and we will take down a post or your entire blog.

Can I link to my own website?

Please do. Your profile has a website link, and links inside posts behave like any other link. Linking your sources is encouraged too.

5. Something’s off

How do I flag a post or a comment?

On the contact page, choose Flag a post or comment, paste the link, and tell us in a line or two what is wrong. If it is your own work that was copied, pick Copyright: my work was copied instead.

What do you hold about me?

Choose My data: see it or delete it on the contact page and ask. We can tell you, or remove it. What we collect and how long we keep it is all in the privacy policy.

Can I just email or phone you?

There is neither. The form on the contact page is the one route in. It drops into the site’s own inbox, and if your message needs an answer, the answer comes by email.
