The deal, in plain words: read freely, comment kindly, publish what is yours. The details follow, numbered so they are easy to point at. Using PepPick means you accept them.
1. Who’s who
“PepPick”, “we” and “us” are the team running this site. “You” covers every person who uses PepPick, whether reading, commenting or writing. “Content” is anything published here: posts, images, profiles, comments.
2. The rulebook counts
The picking rules are part of these terms. The gist: nothing illegal, deceptive or harmful, no harassment, no posing as someone else, no copying other people’s work.
3. Readers
Read as much as you like, free, without an account. Linking to posts and quoting them with credit to the writer is fine. Reposting a whole pick somewhere else needs the writer’s say-so.
4. Commenters
A name is all it takes to comment. Every comment is reviewed and we choose what gets published. What you write is on you, so only post things you are entitled to share.
5. Writers
Blogs here come by invitation, never through an open sign-up. An invitation lets you run a blog on these terms. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and if you suspect someone else got into your account, let us know via the contact page.
Whatever appears on your blog is your responsibility, including having the rights to the words and images you upload and sticking to the picking rules.
6. Who owns what
Your posts stay yours. Publishing them gives us permission to host, store, display and distribute them as part of running PepPick: on your blog, on topic pages, in RSS feeds. That permission exists only so the site works, and it ends once the content is removed, except for copies already out in the world, such as entries sitting in someone’s feed reader.
Want a post, or the whole blog, gone? Ask through the contact page, any time.
7. Moderation
We can take content down, or decline to put it up, if it breaks these terms or the rules, or if we get a valid complaint about it. Blogs with serious or repeated breaches can be closed. We try to be fair and proportionate, but we are under no obligation to host any given piece.
Think your work was copied here without permission? Use the contact page, choose Copyright: my work was copied, and link both your original and the copy.
8. Play fair with the site
No attempts to break it, overload it or slip past its protections: no flooding the comment or contact forms, no probing for holes, no bulk scraping that slows things down for everyone else. Feed readers and search engine crawlers are fine, carry on.
9. Links out
Posts link to other websites. Those sites are not ours, and neither are their content, products or practices. Use the same judgement you would anywhere online.
10. No guarantees
PepPick comes “as is” and “as available”. We work to keep it running and its content safe, but we cannot promise it will always be up, error-free or fit for any particular purpose. Features, or PepPick as a whole, may change, pause or stop. If losing something would hurt, keep a copy of it yourself.
11. Limits on liability
As far as the law permits, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, profit or opportunity, that come from using the site or from what other people publish here. Writers answer for their posts and commenters for their comments. A pick on PepPick is the writer’s view, not an endorsement from us.
12. Walking away
Readers have nothing to cancel; just stop visiting. Writers can ask through the contact page to close their blog, and its profile and posts then come off the site. We can also withdraw an invitation when a blog seriously breaks these terms.
13. When these terms change
As PepPick evolves, these terms may be revised, and the “last updated” date up top will move with them. Carrying on using the site after a revision means accepting the revised version.
14. Questions
Ask on the contact page. It is the one way to reach the PepPick team.
